Tips To Know Before You Go SunTrust Park

With baseball season in full swing (no pun intended) before you head out to the ballpark, here are some tips.

The Atlanta Braves have a new home at SunTrust Park and it is beautiful. The concept of the park is rumored to be what will be the new standard.  You can see more about the park at Welcome Home to SunTrust Park.

When you have a family, even ‘cheap’ tickets can add up in price fast.  One way to save is to buy at the gate vs. online.  This way you avoid all the extra fees.  I have also seen deals on Goldstar and Groupon in the past.  I don’t know if tickets will go up on these sites with the new ballpark, but worth keeping an eye out.

I wish I had known this before we went, but you can bring in your own food.  Again, when on a budget the concession prices can wipe you out. This is also great if you have dietary needs or issues.

For those who love the classic ballpark fare, don’t worry for the classics are still there.  Peanuts, corndogs, cotton candy and more.  But the more is so much more.

Chophouse is back and better.  Indoor and outdoor seating. 3-levels and air-conditioned cup holders for your beverage.  Who likes warm beer?  Bonus tip – USB ports to charge your phone.

Potato Cutter was my daughter’s choice with classic fries to seasoned.  There is a Pizza stand, a Sweets stand and names many know and love.  Chick-Fil-A, Waffle House, Fox Bros BBQ, Internation Wok and what I loved, the grab and go of Centerfield Market.

If you have children, then be prepared to visit Hope & Will’s Sandlot.  This is a kid-friendly area hosted by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  In this area, you will find:

  • Arcade and Carnival style games
  • Clubhouse store just for kids
  • Sandlot Snacks – a kid-friendly food option
  • King of Pops
  • Zip-line
  • Climbing tower
  • batting cages

Hope & Will’s Sandlot is open before, during and after the games; so if you have a restless one, no worries.  Or maybe as a reward after?  Visitors will be able to use the new Braves app to reserve a timeslot to access both of these attractions.

Last but not least, a fan favorite is back. Presented by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, kids 14 and under can line up and run around the bases just like the Braves!  Every Sunday after a home game, you can be the coolest parent ever.

What do you think of the new park?  Are you more or less likely to visit?
