Gwinnett Ballet Theatre presents “Journey” a contemporary story ballet choreographed by GBT Artistic Director Wade Walthall featuring timeless music by Rachmaninoff, Gorecki, and Micheal Nyman. Journey incorporates classical ballet and contemporary elements to create a unique, modern story about the spiritual evolution of a young man, the circumstances of his life, and the choices he makes. Mr. Walthall describes the ballet as, “an ‘everyman tale’, universal in essence with truth and content common to all. It is a tale of the special journey we all take in order to find ourselves, love in our lives, and perhaps the stars…”
Gwinnett Ballet Theatre will be performing “Journey” for their upcoming spring performance. There will be two show times of Saturday, March 25, 2017 – 2:30 PM and Saturday, March 25, 2017 – 7:30 PM to be performed at the Infinite Energy Theater.
Gwinnett Ballet Theatre originally performed “Journey” a few years ago. Mr. Wade Walthall did a wonderful job with the writing and choreography of the production. Being an original contemporary piece, “Journey” expands GBT’s repertoire and further educates and challenges the students.
Contemporary pieces can be hard at times to follow. Or at least some of the performances I’ve seen have been. But “Journey” was understandable and kept your attention the entire time. The dancers performed brilliantly and the costumes and sets added to the visual appeal.
“Journey” is a family friendly performance that will not only show you the journey of one man’s life but maybe have you look at your own.
Tickets are priced from $12 – $20 and be purchased by phone: (770) 626-2464, at the Infinite Energy Center Box Office or Online at www.axs.com
