Families can visit magical realms and participate in cultural activities from around the world!

 

Calling all sci-fi lovers and cultural enthusiasts! Children’s Museum of Atlanta is taking families on a journey overflowing with imagination and wonder throughout September! Kids can explore the fantastic world of science-fiction at TinyCon, observe the enchanting performances of Decatur City Dance, celebrate the Jewish harvest holiday Sukkot and more! Doesn’t matter if your seeking adventure or escape to other fantastic lands, children of all ages can discover interactive and creative activities throughout the month!

September Events Special Programming

TinyCON®
Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2 
Families are invited to a two-day celebration filled with fantasy, science fiction, comics, gaming, technology and more! Kids of all ages can create their own cartoon characters, embark on a Descendants scavenger hunt, mix Hogwarts portions, blend peach smoothies with Princess Peach, race around the Museum with the Mario Brothers and participate in several other fantastic activities. Costumes are encouraged!

September Events Special Performance: Decatur City Dance

Saturday, September 8
Little ones can bid farewell to The Amazing Castle with a magical performance by special guests from Decatur City Dance. To celebrate the themes from the exhibit young dancers will perform excerpts from “Pas De Quatre” and Fairy Variations from The Sleeping Beauty. Children can take part in the magic as dancers lead a demonstration and ballet lesson.

September Events Celebrate Sukkot!

Sunday, September 23
Kids are invited to learn all about the Jewish harvest holiday Sukkot with Michael Levine of The Learning Groove as he shares traditional Sukkot stories as well as songs – and perhaps, a few “Pete the Cat” tunes – that will get the whole family moving and grooving. Little ones can also celebrate the holiday by building sukkahs and exploring the works of notable Jewish artists.

Buckle up! 
Families can join Phineas Figg as he travels to Asia, The Americas, Africa, and Europe – in just 20 minutes! Throughout the journey, kids can tinker with global inventions at the Science Bar, discover map making in the Art Studio and much more! September Events Feature Exhibit: The Amazing Castle

Through September 9
Amazing Castle
 transports families to a magical place in time where little ones can explore a happy, peaceful community where every citizen has a particular job to complete. Featuring eight themed areas, kids can don costumes and engage in role play, prepare royal meals, entertain guests in the Royal Puppet Theatre and more! Throughout the exhibit, children experience the interconnectedness of individuals as they interact with friends, family, and new acquaintances.

The Amazing Castle was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum. Local sponsorship is provided by Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs.

September Events Feature Exhibit: Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit

September 22-January 6
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit
 allows children to enter the world of Daniel Tiger and friends to explore the Neighborhood. Through immersive experiences, visitors collaborate to solve problems, use their imaginations to transform their surroundings and play along with Daniel’s singable strategies as they learn life’s little lessons. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in partnership with The Fred Rogers Company, brings to life the themes presented in the PBS series such as community, communication, and emotions, which enables young children to understand their feelings and those of their neighbors.
