I received free products in order to host the Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.
WHAT IS A DISNEY SIDE PARTY?
Our DisneySide @Home Celebration party was months in the making. Disney Parks and MomSelect offered a chance for not only bloggers and media but everyday moms, dads, and just simple Disney lovers to register and host a DisneySide @Home Celebration. Many requested and were accepted. Including me!
I still remember opening the email saying I had been accepted. Lil Man was scared of my literally yelling “yes.” Since then, it has been months of fun with emails, pre-celebration events and connecting with other Disney fans.
WHAT WAS INCLUDED
We all eventually received our celebration kit filled with free products. It was literally a party in a box. Lots of Disney decorations such as napkins, cups, balloons, plates, a tablecloth, and hanging swirls. Tattoos and stickers. Disney Bingo and Trivia. Disney cookie cutters and cupcake wrappers. Measuring cups and recipes from ABC’s The Chew. Hanes t-shirts and fabric markers to decorate your own custom made shirt. Craisins packs. Our own new piece of luggage from American Tourister (the official luggage of Walt Disney World Resort). And of course, a Disney vacation planning DVD to plan our next trip to the Disney Parks.
Everyone was encouraged to use their imagination and create a magical celebration. There are many sides to Disney and everyone has their own DisneySide. Many shared photos and party planning ideas. Some parties were elaborate and some were simple. We kept ours somewhere in the middle and had a blast planning. I kept an open theme so everyone could come and show their personal DisneySide:
Once a date was set, it was time to get to business. My sister-in-law was also selected to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration and we thought it would be fun to work together. So I had double the supplies to work with which allowed me to decorate our dining room and the kid’s playroom.
PLANNING AND SHOPPING
Shopping for Disney themed stuff is the best kind of shopping there is. My biggest issues were not buying it all. From snacks with Disney characters, prizes for the games, more Hanes shirts so all the kids invited could make one and goodie bags for the kids to take home. All filled with Disney themed items.
Pinterest gave me this great cupcake idea of Mickey eared cupcakes and FROZEN themed cupcakes. I also have a highly talented friend who made a beautiful Olaf cake. It was just as much fun planning and shopping for the party as it was having the party.
My daughter would tell the cashier we were having a Disney party and when asked if it was her birthday, she would always answer with pride “No, it’s just because.” I would always get this look like you’re seriously doing this just for fun and I would explain we just love Disney. Even the day of the party I was still picked up more fun gifts and went and have the balloons filled so the kids were able to take balloons home too.
We all had such a great time and even now 4 days later, our playroom is still decorated with our DisneySide. I even went and made a shirt for each of the kids myself. We love all things Disney over here so this was a great opportunity and I think we’ll have to do again soon.
