While we don’t eat out as much as we have in the past, I do love a night out where I don’t have to cook or do dishes. The only downside is when we go as a family, the cost can add up fast. That’s why when I heard Applebee’s had added to the Two for $20 menu and making changes, we jumped at the chance to give it a try.
Our family paid a visit to our local location here in Tucker. I really want to emphasize how impressed I was from the moment of driving up and the door being opened for us and the entire staff was pleasant and smiling.
In the past, many have not had a good experience at this location and now with new management, cook, and staff; I have to say Applebee’s in Tucker is so worth giving a second look.
Now, to the food!
For those not familiar with Applebee’s 2 for $20 deal here are the details. You can choose one (1) appetizer to share and then two (2) full entrees. You have to choice from the specified items and are not allowed to substitute, but with such flavorful options, you won’t want to.
To start our meal, we chose the Onion Rings as even the kids like them. The batter was very crispy and made my carb, fried loving Lil Man very happy.
For dinner, Lil Man ate from the kids’ meal option of Crispy Shrimp and french fries.
DIVA went for the Bold Flavors option of Shrimp and Sirloin.
For myself, I went for one of the temporary options and tried the Caprese Mozzarella Burger. The flavors in this were amazing! Even with its drawbacks, I ate every bite- well almost. One of the drawbacks was it has a lot of onions. They were good, don’t get me wrong but I suggested maybe doing a few less for that also made the burger hard to eat. I ended up using a fork and knife. But yes, I would definitely get the Caprese Mozzarella Burger again for the flavor profile is just spot on.
Due to a family issue, Senior was not able to stay for dinner so I got his to go. He is not a fan of reheated food so we went with the chicken tender option as he knew he would still enjoy them.
Besides the 2 for $20 menu, Applebee’s has other options that help you to save money but not skimp on taste. For example, they offer both a Burger Night and a Kids Meal $.99 night. Or you can take advantage of their Late Night Apps from 10-close.

Don’t Forget Dessert
While dessert is not part of the 2 for $20 menu, Applebee’s does have some really good sweets. My daughter is a chocoholic and picked the Triple chocolate Meltdown. It’s a fudge-filled cake served with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. I did steal a couple bites for I was too full, but man was it delicious.
