The Start Of DJ’s IncredABLE Journey
Welcome to my blog. Wow, never thought I’d actually do this. I’ve been writing in a notebook about our journey with autism for over a year now, and thought it was time to have a more ‘hard copy.’
I named this DJ’s Incredible Journey for it seemed to fit very well to me. One, it’s about DJ and his autism. Two, a journey fits with anyone really as life is a journey. There are highs and there are lows.
I added Incredible for our highs and lows seem to be more so than the normal. Incredible lows when you feel so down, for you just want to make everything better for your child and you can’t. Incredible highs when you see your child do something that’s maybe so simple to the average child; but is the world to yours! Incredible for you never know who may be able to help in their own journey. While no ones else will have the same journey as yours, it can be so helpful to talk to someone who gets it’s.
You may have noticed the ‘ABLE’ in the title and I did that on purpose. I believe that my child is able to do a great many things. The doctors say his Receptive language [ability to understand information, what others say] is spot on and we just have to help him with his Expressive [able to put thoughts into words and sentences, expressing oneself].
My writing was mostly to have a record for doctors and a place to vent. You may see more vents at the beginning for that is where the anger starts. Anger is not having a cure, anger in not being to make my son better, anger in not knowing what to do and feeling as if I was to blame in some way.
I am not looking to be a professional writer or even be very entertaining but it’s here if you want to read.
