It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight…
Those lyrics bring me back to my childhood. I have great memories of watching the Muppet Show with my dad as a child and love that I’m able to create similar memories with my own children.
The kids and I went to a screening of Muppets Most Wanted a few weeks back. They both enjoy the movies we own at home and were excited to see the newest Muppet antics. While we enjoyed The Muppets (2011) this movie was in my opinion even better. You get everything the Muppets are know for; guest starts, comedy, drama, and of course singing. The opening song is even a spoof on sequels and yet they prove that squeals can succeed.
The story line for Muppets Most Wanted is as follows (no spoilers): This film takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine-the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit-and his dastardly sidekick Dominic.
The even more complicated romance between Kermit and Ms. Piggy, by Constantine and his goal to make everyone happy makes for a good laugh. Even my DIVA loved the outcome and ‘lesson’ Ms.Piggy teaches Constantine at the end. Which of course is in true Ms.Piggy style.
Muppets Most Wanted has something for everyone. The young and the young at heart. The All-Star cast keeps you entertained with appearances by Celine Dion, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Usher, Tony Bennett and many more.
The film was accompanied by Pixar’s animated short Party Central. A great short about the gang from Monsters University with Mike and Sulley helping their Oozma Kappa fraternity brothers make their party a success.
