This past weekend I’ve had the pleasure of following a fellow blogger on her whirlwind weekend at Disney World Resort for the FIRST “Dopey’’ Challenge (5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon). It was more of a party with 50,000 of your friends than a race. Or that is what is seemed like to me. There are many special events just for the racers and their families and many special treats even during the race. It is truly a magical experience and I do hope to join one day.
But Disney isn’t done, for this weekend is the Tinker Bell at Disneyland. Again I am not currently a runner, just months ago I was able to experience the fun of runDISNEY and see the medals up close and personal. Not to mention get my picture taken with Mickey and Minnie. (You can read about it HERE.) To be honest, until that night I had no idea there are so many different medals or bling as the racers refer to them. And to see them in person-beautiful! Hence where my desire to one day join the ranks began. But for now, I will share in the fun from my home and follow via social media.
To help with any others wishing they too could be taken part of this event and earn some bling of their own, I have a small giveaway to share. I have a runDISNEY license plate. I think it’s beautiful and I know one lucky subscriber will love it too. I am tying this giveaway in with my other site of Macaroni Kid Conyers. Simply click HERE!
MORE THAN 30,000 RUNNERS LINING UP FOR TINKER BELL HALF MARATHON WEEKEND AT DISNEYLAND
15,000-plus runners entered for the half marathon Sunday; New 10K race added on Saturday; Compelling Local and National Human Interest Stories and Visual Live Shot Opportunities Throughout the Weekend
What: More than 30,000 runners from across South California and the nation are getting ready to run in various events during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend this weekend. Several are participating in one or more events, including 15,000 runners in the half marathon and 10,000 in the new Tinker Bell 10K.
Storylines: Kimberly Markey has participated in 25 runDisney race events in the past six years – which is even more amazing when you consider she is running while battling cancer. On July 8th of last year, she received some devastating news: Breast cancer. But Kimberly refuses to let it get in the way of her running! She’s participated in two runDisney races since her diagnosis and here she is again at the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend. Her story is one of courage, determination and inspiration.
