Knight Training Special At Medieval Times
For those of you who have followed me for a while, you know how much we love Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament: Atlanta. The best way to describe why is this: it is our local ‘Disney World.’ Medieval Times has that high level of service where they truly care about their guests and want everyone to enjoy themselves. And it is a world away from the everyday. Once you enter the castle, you are a lord or lady. Everyone is addressed and treated as such. You are transported back in time to Knights, Kings, and Princesses.
And yes, they are Special Needs friendly!
Becoming A Knight
Once again, Medieval Times Atlanta is offering a special for Spring Break. A wonderful ticket discount and Knight Training. “Kids are given the chance to train to become Knights of the Realm at Medieval Times. Children will enjoy watching an exclusive weapons demonstration by our Knights and the Weapons Master. They will learn about the grueling training it takes to become a Knight. Upon completion of their training, your children will be knighted by His Majesty King Carlos in a group knighting ceremony. ”
Last time DIVA took part in this and loved it! It’s like getting a personal show and a chance to engage with the Knights. The King himself welcomes the children and explains the code -then enters our Knights. And they come out with a grand entrance…emerging from a wall of misting fog. The scene was quite impressive:
The knight then guided our trainees through basic moves to protect, disarm and of course a little humor-hokey pokey anyone? I really liked how the Knights also stressed how the kids are not to go and harm anyone. But to be safe and how they themselves train daily to do what they do. The training takes about 15 minutes and followed by a ceremony of Knighthood:
Medieval Times Memories
From there everyone goes back to the Main Hall till the show begins. At that point, each section is called in by the color of their knight. And this again is why we love going. Lil Man does NOT like the trumpet call before each announcement. It just echos a bit too loud for him and he has those ‘fight or flight’ moments. So we ask to be seated with those who need extra assistance, ie. walkers, wheelchairs, etc. I polity asked security by the door if we could be included and why. He actually remembered us from almost a year ago and said it would be no problem. Once we entered the arena, the Lord Chancellor was also by the doors and very kindly spoke with us and helped us to our section. He took time to speak with my princess and my son. Again, making sure they were having fun and would continue to enjoy themselves.
I could share so many more stories and experiences we have had with different cast members and each shows how caring and professional they are.
